Automatically Generating Models of IT Systems

چکیده

Information technology system (ITS), informally, consists of hardware and software infrastructure (e.g., workstations, servers, laptops, installed packages, databases, LANs, firewalls, etc.), along with physical logical connections inter-dependencies between various items. Nowadays, every company owns operates an ITS, but detailed information about the is rarely publicly available. However, there are many situations where availability such data would be beneficial. For example, cyber ranges need descriptions complex realistic IT systems in order to provide effective training education platform. Furthermore, algorithms cybersecurity, particular attack tree generation, validated on models systems. In this paper, we describe a call Generator that, based high-level requirements as number employees business area target belongs to, generates model ITS that satisfies given requirements. We put special emphasis following two criteria: generated large amount details, ideally resembles real system. Our survey related literature found no sufficiently similar prior works, so believe first attempt building something like this. created proof-of-concept implementation Generator, it by generating for simplified fictional financial institution, analyzed Generators performance respect problem size. The research was done iterative manner, coauthors continuously providing feedback intermediate results. (...) intend extend prototype allow probabilistic generation when only subset parameters explicitly defined, further develop validate our approach help domain experts.

Automatically Generating Behavioral Models of Adaptive Systems to Address Uncertainty

Increasingly, high-assurance applications rely on dynamically adaptive systems (DASs) to respond to environmental changes, while satisfying functional requirements and non-functional preferences. Examples include critical infrastructure protection and transportation systems. A DAS comprises a collection of (non-adaptive) target systems (represented as UML models) and a set of adaptations that r...

Automatically Generating Models for Botnet Detection

A botnet is a network of compromised hosts that is under the control of a single, malicious entity, often called the botmaster. We present a system that aims to detect bot-infected machines, independent of any prior information about the command and control channels or propagation vectors, and without requiring multiple infections for correlation. Our system relies on detection models that targ...

Automatically Generating Roof Models from Building Footprints

Modelling Large Urban Environments using traditional modelling techniques would prove too time consuming a process. Consequently a method is required for generating large urban environments quickly without requiring a labour intensive process or expensive data. Some approaches to resolve this problem have been undertaken through the use of procedural modelling or statistics. However the test su...

Synthesizing Software Models: Generating Train Station Models Automatically

This paper presents an approach for automatic synthesis of software models. Software models are increasingly being used for representing software applications at a high abstraction level, and source code can usually be generated from these models. Creating application models can be a tedious task, and thus the presented approach automates this task. Based on a formal definition of the domain-sp...

Automatically Generating CSP Models for Communicating Haskell Processes

Tools such as FDR can check whether a CSP model of an implementation is a refinement of a given CSP specification. We present a technique for generating such CSP models of Haskell implementations that use the Communicating Haskell Processes library. Our technique avoids the need for a detailed semantics of the Haskell language, and requires only minimal program annotation. The generated CSPM mo...
